I set out to do an experiment of sorts.
How would my email list respond to a sale? Not just a single sale, but a 5 day sale.
I recently ran a five-day mini-course sale and the results were amazing! Let me walk you through how it all went down.
This wasn’t my first rodeo.
I actually tested a similar idea with my photography courses (different list) last year, with some success. But this time, using Gemma Bonham Carter’s brilliant framework, I supercharged the whole process.
The key? A highly engaged email list.
Seriously, nurturing your list is HUGE.
I made a big mistake last year with my photography courses—only emailing when something was on sale.
This time, I sent regular helpful emails, keeping my audience connected. My coaching list (12,354 strong!) outperformed my photography list (around 5-6,000) by a mile.
Here was the GAME PLAN
The setup was simple: one sales page, five different offers, each available for 24 hours.
I included Simple Funnels (my software), a membership course, a brand new List Building Blueprint, a marketing bundle, and another membership push.
All the offers were presented on a single sales page, eliminating multiple links in my emails.
Each morning, I updated the live link on the sales page to reflect the day’s special offer.
Emails went out at 9 am and 9 pm each day—except for Cyber Monday, which got three.
It was a little hectic, but so worth it!
The Results!
The numbers?
-Monday (Simple Funnels): $4,740.
-Tuesday (Membership): $1,221.
-Wednesday (List Building Blueprint – had a small cart glitch!): $1,485.
-Thursday (Marketing Bundle): $616 (lowest day—likely because many already owned this course).
-Friday (Membership): $1,382.
-And Cyber Monday’s grand finale? $2,091.
Total? $11,535!
I was aiming for $10,000-$20,000, so while I didn’t quite hit the top end, I’m seriously thrilled.
To put this in perspective: that’s roughly 26 photography shoots worth of income—but without the physical and time demands!
What I thought I did well
I included a link for people to opt out of the sale instead of having to unsubscribe.
What I thought I could do better
I included a course that many people already have, so next year I will chose a new course.
This is scalable income.
Next year, with a bigger list and the same work, I can easily double this. That’s the beauty of mini-courses and smart email marketing!
How you can replicate this
This was such an easy sale and it doesn’t have to be Black Friday. I may run something similar to kick off summer but other ideas could be to run it on your birthday or the anniversary of your business or really any time!
1. Start to hint about the sale weeks before kickoff, get excited and share your excitement.
2. Have different offers at different price points so there is something for everyone.
3. Have one single sales page with all the offers on it so it is easy for them to look at the same page every day.
4. Make sure to give value and actionable steps in your emails before you pitch a big 5 day sale so people want to read them and want to open when it’s time for a sale.
The Most important Part
This only works with an active email list. You want to not only grow the list but also nurture it as well.
I did not know how to do this at first.
It took a lot of trial and error until I finally figured it out. And if you know me, it has to be simple!
